Bedroom DIY

Hey guys! Finally I found something to blog about, I’ve been kind of lost for a little while in terms of fashion. My outfits recently have consisted of a lot of jeans and trainers...nothing exciting! Although the same can't be said for my room. Why is it when you have a million and one things to do you always seem to distract yourself with something ridiculous like re-decorating your room! I'm constantly looking on Pinterest for DIY inspo and cute bedroom ideas and this is what I have came up with! I thought the easiest way to do this is take lots of pics of my little set ups and talk through them and tell you guys where I got things etc!

So...I have two sets of white drawers from Ikea (not 100% sure what they are called) bursting with hundreds clothes!

I have stacked some copies of my favourite Vogue issues and placed a couple of little trinkets on top. A picture of me and my friends, the frame is from Tiger. Another picture of me and my friend in New York last year, the frame is just for polaroid pictures from Urban Outfitters. A cute little elephant that I got when I was on holiday in Portugal, a mini Eiffel Tower that I bought when I was in Paris and a pink champaign flute that my auntie bought me for my 21st Birthday. I really love this little collection of trinkets because each one has a very special memory attached to it.

I thought I would tell you guys just why these are my favourite Vogue issues. The top on is my ultimate fav its a September 1994 issue (the month/year I was born) the BEST birthday present my boyfriend has ever bought me. The second is a Spanish Vogue that I purchased when I was studying in Madrid. And the last two are just ones that I really really enjoy reading over and over again!

And on the right hand side I have a little display of my favourite fashion books. A book about Vivenne Westwood (that I haven't actually read yet!), An amazing book by Lucy Siegle that I recommend EVERYONE that is intreseted in fashion to read it is such an eye opening book, Alex Chung's It ... If you havent read this ... Where the fuck have you been?!, Bringing Home the Birkin is the most wonderful holiday, easy-read book I have read it soo many times. Finally, Confessions of a Fashionista which I have yet to read but I will be taking it on holiday!

I have actually had this feature for a while in my room and added to it over the years. Changing the pictures every so offten. I'm not going to go through this too much but I have purchaed frames from ... B&M, Home Bargins, The Range, Urban Outfitters, Paperchase and Tiger!

Finally, the newest addition to my room is this wall...

Now this is totally inspired by Pintrest! It's a mix of prints ("but first coffee." from Paperchase and the Chanel perfume bottle is from a market in Paris), poloroid pictures and shopping bags from my favourite brands. I really love this wall I feel like it makes a great feature!

Well I hope you have all enjoyed this short and sweet blog post! Sorry for the lack of posts I've been super busy with work and FINISHING UNI!

Lots of Love

Not So Glamorous Glamping..

Hello, Lovely people!

I am actually getting pretty good at this blogging thing again! I'm sure that this is about the third or fourth week in a row now *pats self of back*.

Well, today's blog is slightly different than anything I have ever written before. To be honest I am only writing it so I don't have to tell this story over and over again when people ask how 'glamping' was.

So, myself and my boyfriend Grant (who is actually becoming a regular feature on my blog...do not know how I feel about that) decided to go 'Glamping' which is glamorous camping for people not in the know. I found this really great deal on Itison a couple of months ago and thought that it would be a great idea for a few nights away from the dissertation stress. We booked two nights in a dome within Loch Tay Highland Lodges campsite.

(Here is a screenshot of how excited I was about the trip...if only I knew)

We got to the site at about 3:30 and it was GORGEOUS, the views were outstanding and we couldn't believe how peaceful the place was, although it was a little cold.

And after walking around for a little bit we got the keys to our own little dome for two night.

Stepping into the dome for the first time was perfect it looked exactly like the pictures (minus a few details), but it was gorgeous. We (I'm saying we but I really mean Grant) then got the fire going and we chilled out on the massive beanbags watching the loch, with what I can only describe as a major throwback playlist.

After a few hours of chilling out and having a good ol' gab with each other we decided to go and get ready for dinner. As it is technically 'low season' in places like this the outside restaurant was actually closed so we had to go a little further afield for food, which was fine as we had done our research in advanced anyway and decided to go to the Kenmore Hotel which was only about 20 minutes in the car. OMG, the food was amazing, the restaurant was beautiful, the staff were excellent and the place just had that perfect little Scottish highland feel to it. Which is exactly what you want when you visit places like this.

As you can possibly tell the diet was 100% forgotten about for a couple of days. I cannot recommend this place enough to everyone, it was seriously perfect.

Funnily enough, it was all downhill from then on. We got back from dinner and decided to put the fire on, have a few glasses of champers and play some boardgames (apparently that's what people with no phones or laptops or Netflix do?). We began to realise VERY quickly just how cold it was getting. Even with the fire roaring the dome just wouldn't heat up, even though I had FIVE layers on and about 7 pairs of socks my feet were still ice cubes. Remind me again why we thought to camp in February in Scotland was a good idea?

Sleeping in that dome was the WORST THING I HAVE EVER DONE (using the word 'sleeping' loosely). It got so cold during the night that inside the tent was frozen, actually frozen!! I could have cried but tbh my tears would have just turned into ice, I didn't realise that we signed up to sleep in an igloo overnight!!!

The next day we made the conscious decision to pack up our things and get out of there super fast. There was no way I would have enjoyed sleeping in there another night, I didn't particularly feel like putting myself through that torture again, I don't think my body could have handled it. Although it was freezing cold and I could have cried at 3 am when I had to double check that my nose hadn't fallen off, I'm actually glad that we did it. I had seen these domes online for a while and we did actually get them for a really good deal, it's just unfortunate the weather sucked! I do seriously think that it would be amazing in the summer when it is just a little warmer. I don't want this to be a negative blog, I'm not complaining about the place at all I just thought I should write about this because it would be a funny thing to look back on. Although I do plan on writing a couple more lifestyle-type blogs just to mix it up from the usual fashion related posts.

So if anyone asks "How was camping?" I will just be directing you straight to this post!

My Boyfriend Dressed Me For A Week!

Hey lovelies!

I did something a little different this week, I let my boyfriend dress me, FOR THE WHOLE ENTIRE WEEK. I had no control over any of my fashion choices. Believe me, this was just as difficult for him as it was for me! I gave a small brief for each day but tbh it was mostly just uni and work or working on uni stuff. Nothing too exciting, unfortunately.

Also a little side note ... I am very very very ill this week, I came down with a horrible ear infection so I am not 100% on point :(

Monday

Brief - Focus groups for my dissertation, four-hour shift at work and watching The Walking Dead.

Grant picked my favourite Eiffel Tower print shirt from Mango, a quilted H&M black 'leather' skirt, plain black tights and my 'creepers' (they are old but oh so good).

I feel like he did very good with this outfit! It is a very typical 'me' outfit...apart from the shoes. I just felt they were a little too chunky for the outfit.

Grant: "The Eiffel Tower shirt and skirt combination looks professional for the focus groups and everybody comments on it when we're out together."

Tuesday

Brief - Lecture in uni at 9 and also felt very ill too!

Grant picked a white quilted top from Topshop, blue Topshop Jamie Jeans (which he actually knew the name of), Stan Smiths and grey Topshop coat!

Also, my glasses are real and they are from Cheap Monday via Specsavers.

This outfit was perfect for the day, I was so glad it was something super comfy and not too high maintenance...also perfect for napping in after uni! He also reminded me how much I love this top, it was one of those that was cramped at the back of the drawer and completely forgotten about.

Grant: "Danielle hit the nail on the head- this outfit LOOKS SUPER COMFY! And that's just what she needs when she's feeling total rubbish. Even though all she wants to do is to put her Pug PJ's on and curl up under the duvet she forced herself into uni. I love her for that 'no B.S.' attitude."

Wednesday

I did spend most of the day in the house, until going to the cinema to watch Deadpool (which is amazing btw) so I didn't manage to get a full outfit pic which I am mega annoyed about! But with the picture I got you get the gist of the outfit anyway.

I think this is my favorite outfit of them all (which makes me ever more pissed about the lack of good picture). The jumper and jeans are both from H&M and the belt (which was a Valentines day present from Grant, boy did good). I feel like the belt just gives the outfit a whole new look because if you have followed the @__styleaddict Instagram for a little while you would have seen this outfit before but only with a black belt, but the brown one works so much better.

Grant: "I transported Danielle back to the 70's with the emphasised gold belt buckle on a brown suede belt and massive gold hoop earrings (not in the picture). Match that with a mustard knit-jumper and classic Mom jeans and this outfit suits her so well. In a sort-of way the colours bring out her blonde-brown hair and she looks just goooorgeous!"

Thursday

Brief - Focus groups and lectures at uni, a quick lunch date and a four-hour shift in work.
10 Style Addict points if anyone can guess where this mirror pic was taken!

This is also another outfit that has been featured on Instagram previously! I do love it, though. It's my Yeezus top from Urban Outfitters, button up red suede skirt from H&M, black tights, Chelsea boots from Boohoo and denim jacket (which is Grants!) from Topman. The only thing about this outfit is that it was FREEZING that day so I think if I had a choice I would have chosen something a little warmer, although these outfits were all picked in advance on Sunday (what a romantic Valentines activity) so I'm sure he would have picked something different to match the weather a little better.

Grant: "After a few days in jumpers and jeans, I thought a skirt and T-shirt would have added some variety to Danielle's week. Maybe this outfit came a bit premature in the year as the weather was cold, wet and miserable... Still, the girl looks good in my denim jacket (I'm not up for sharing it anymore though!)."

Friday

Brief - A day in the house doing dissertation shit and a quick trip to the bank. Woohoo! Exciting adult things.

The top is from H&M and the jeans are my black ripped Jamie's from Topshop again! They are for sure my favourite style of Topshop jeans atm. I also really like the big cross earrings, I really don't wear these enough. And well done Grant on adding the high-heeled boots for a bit of height to counter balance on the very long top! Fashion Maths!

Grant: "I wasn't sure about this outfit to begin with, given Danielle's week of dizzyness. But I defend my choice - the boots were a great choice for this outfit. The top's extra length doesn't make a difference if you add a bit of height underneath (do I sound like a fashion blogger yet?). Black ripped jeans and statement cross earrings make Danielle look like my rock-chick!"

Saturday

Brief - Slimming class in the morning, food shopping for our camping trip next week, then spending some time with the fam at night.

I really love this little COS dress but I always felt it was a little boxy and made me look bigger than I actually was. So well done Grant for putting a belt with it to bring it in at the waist and show of my figure a little better. Again I'm wearing the black and gold River Island boots and black tights. Not going to lie, I was doing some uni stuff at home and did change into leggings and a baggy jumper...sometimes fashion is just too much! I needed some chill time.

Grant: "A shirt/dress with a thin belt made Danielle look on point. She doesn't give herself enough credit - her figure is AMAZING. I hope any insecurities she has about wearing this dress have disappeared, because this was my favourite outfit and would look perfect on one of our date nights."

Sunday

Brief - Working in the morning and shopping in B&Q! Exciting I know right!

I absolutely love these Topshop dungarees! I never ever thought to pair it with this bottle green Pull & Bear jumper but I think it works really well. It also kept me mega warm walking to the bus because I usually only wear a thin t-shirt with these. Excuse the fuzzy mess my hair has become in that picture I swear it didn't look like that when I left the house this morning, rain ruins everything!

Grant: "Simple and trendy. That's all I can really say about this outfit. The dungarees can be worn with one strap up or two, but with the jumper it looked better with both. Danielle looks cosy and comfortable in this."

I just want to say thanks to my amazing boyfriend for taking the time out to pick all the outfits for me, and tbh it wasn't actually as difficult I thought. It was kind of nice having my outfits planned out for the week too, it gave me a good 15 minutes extra in bed every morning and stopped me from staying up until the wee hours of the morning planning what I was going to wear...yes I do that. Anyway, I hope yous all enjoyed this wee blog it is a little different from what I usually write about but I have seen a lot of other bloggers do it and I thought it would be fun!

I Am Crushing On This Skin Care Duo

Hello, my lovelies!

I wasn't actually planning on writing a blog post tonight but I have been pleasantly surprised whilst using two Soap and Glory products, and I had to tell you all about it. The two products come from the Sugar Crush range the one with that beautifully citrus-y delicious scent. I used the Sugar Crush Body Scrub to start then shaved my legs (the usual plain Jane way) and then used the Suger Crush body wash which was a combination sent from heaven above!

I don't know if it's just the amazing scent or the fact that my skin feels so frickin silky smooth. But using the scrub to get rid of all the dry skin from my legs (and all of the above) before shaving just seems to add a totally new level of lovely-ness. Which I totally recommend doing, I have always been a lover of the sugar scrub, I think I have got it almost every Christmas for the last 5 years, and it is usually finished in the middle of Febuary. I usually work this into my weekely skin care routine with doing it once a week (twice if I am going out that weekend and I'll have my legs oot!) on a night that I am not washing my hair because that takes enough time as it is!

Keeping this one short and sweet!

The Week of Mirror Selfies!

Hello all you lovely people! I know it is amazing two blogs within DAYS of each other, I promise I'm not dying. Just distracting myself from horrific dissertation writing. If you follow my fashion Instagram ( @dreamingoffifthavenue ) you will have had the blessing of viewing these pictures already so you can stop reading now. I have been trying to up my style game within the last week, for a while I was getting super comfortable with my style and not pushing myself to wear new or different things (there is only so many times that you can wear a Yeezus top and Topshop Jeans). Also, since October I have been on a bit of a weight loss journey and getting closer to my target weight has giving me an extra boost of confidence to wear more fashion-forward outfits. *big round of applause* I was on a buying ban...yes! a buying ban since the 28th of December so I splurged a little at the end of January...which in a way makes the ban completely pointless. I may have a slight addiction. But if that addiction means I'm looking fierce AF, who gives!

Outfit One -

I love this outfit! Took a little style inspo from my pal over at www.vogueandcake.com who suggested layering a big fluffy jumper over this ankle length Zara dress that cost £9! BIBLE! The jumper is H&M Trend (surprise, surprise) and I'm sure the belt is from H&M too! I felt super on trend with this and got so many compliments too! I just felt as though it really showcased my figure in the best way.

Outfit Two -

This coat is genuine LIFE! I got it from the Topshop boxing day sale for £35! You can't really see it great in this picture but I have a Weekday long black shirt on with some ripped Topshop Jamie jeans and my Stan Smiths (easily the best shoes I have ever ever bought!).

Outfit Three -

Sorry for the lack of face...it was a hard day and I may be cheating because this isn't a 'mirror selfie' but I AM LIVING FOR THIS BOMBER JACKET!!! Which is from H&M Trend obvs. A basic black polo neck cause why the hell would you want to take away from all the sequins!! Topshop Jamie Jeans and my fav Stan Smith's.

Outfit Four -

Again with the Jaime Jeans....sorry guys but they are so god damn comfy! I feel like this outfit also showed off my figure really well and made a 7 o'clock start in work that little bit easier as I was feeling fierce AF! I love this little Mango shirt that I bought when I was in Madrid last year, its super light weight meaning that it works well for layering too! These boots make me feel super sassy like more than the emoji chick! They are comfy but also high enough to wear on a night out (which I have done often, which equals no crying feet).

Outfit Five -

You guys will NEVER EVER guess where this outfit is from...I'll give you three chances 1) H&M Trend 2) H&M Trend and 3) H&M Trend! I'm not even sorry, I don't know why but I felt like some sort of Hunger Games extra with this on, maybe because of the lack of black? The only criticism I have about the trousers is the waistband, I wish it wasn's elastic. I guess I could cover it with a belt but I don't know for comfortable that will feel. And again with the Stan Smiths, I am soo original.

Outfit Six -

I am so gutted I didn't get a better picture of this outfit, but unfortunately,  White Russians are way more important that outfit selfies. Although I must congratulate Bloc (a bar on Bath Street in Glasgow) on their awesome outfit selfie mirror! This H&M Trend fringe suede jacket is an utter dream, it makes any outfit look super on trend. Underneath I have a V-neck grey t-shirt with my black Joni Topshop jeans and I bought one of those skinny black scarfs which I feel completely upgrades this outfit and you will defiantly be seeing this again.

I hope you guys all enjoyed this post! I really enjoyed writing it and taking multiple pictures of myself.

Lots of Love

Award Season Fashion with BlackTux.com

Hey guys...mega long time no see!! Finally back to chat away to yous once a week about all things fashion! Won't give yous the usual..." oh I have been so busy with work and uni" you know the drill!

Anyway! I'm here today with The Black Tux to tell you guys all about their new tuxedo collection, and as awards season is right around the corner I thought it was only fitting to share with you my nominees from The Black Tux suit rental collection and how I would dress strutting down the red carpet with my celeb bou (Tom Hardy...please please pleeease).

I don't know about you guys but I love award season fashion and to be perfectly honest it is usually only the ladies fashion that I was interested in, until recently where the beautiful men of the red carpet have been seriously upping their fashion game!

Look One

This tux screams old Hollywood glam! I love the contrasting lapels and pocket, giving it a super sleek feel.

And to match my celeb date I would wear this outfit:-

Skirt - ASOS
Bralet - Topshop
Necklace and Ear Cuff - H&M
Shoes - Kurt Geiger

This look it super perfect to match the Old Hollywood glam of the tux, with the slick, soft curled hair, bright red lip and soft but smoke eye. Also by adding a big statement necklace and modernising with an ear cuff brings the outfit to a whole new level!

Look Two

I absolutely LOVE grey suits, I think they are so stylish and bring a trendy and cool vibe to the red carpet!

And to match my celebs outfit I would wear this:-

Dress - Rare London
Shoes - Kurt Geiger
Watch - Kate Spade

I feel like the blush pink colour complements the grey suit really well and with the dress being made out of suede also gives a mixture of textures to the outfit. For hair, as the dress is such a statement keeping the hair bouncy and shiny complements it perfectly and for makeup I would keep it nude, with defined eyes and a glossy nude lip...maybe even a tiny bit of glitter just in the corner of the eye, I mean I am on the red carpet after all!!

Look Three

I think this 100% has to be my favourite look! I love navy on black at the moment I think it works so well in a totally high fashion, contemporary way!

And to match my celebs outfit I would wear this :-

Dress - Zara
Bag - Zara
Earrings - Vivenne Westwood
Shoes - Kurt Gieger

Again because the dress is leather you are getting the look of contrasting materials and with the heavy embellishment at the top of the dress having your hair sleeked right back works perfectly and all topped off with just the right amount of sparkle from these gorgeous Vivienne Westwood earrings! For makeup again it is pretty classic, beautiful red lip and really deep, dark smokey eyes to contrast the pushed back hair. Also, as the dress is super short, a tan (spray or real) is advised to give that ultra-Hollywood glam feel!

If any of you are interested in renting a tux from The Black Tux collection then head on over to their website theblacktux.com, where you will find a huge seIection of tuxes, suits and all the accessories you will need for a super glamorous night. I have really enjoyed pulling the outfits together and if only I was really being whisked away to the red carpet by Tom Hardy...a girl can dream!

Love yahs guys,

Danielle xxx
